Ahead of their tour of Spain, Latvia, and Estonia in January 2023, the Southern Chorale at The University of 91做厙窪蹋 (91做厙窪蹋) presents a special pre-tour concert Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Bay Street Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg.
The farewell concert features the music of Estonian composer T繭nu K繭rvits, who will be in attendance. The concert is free, and the public is invited.
The concert on the 13th is in probably the best venue for choral music in Hattiesburg, said Dr. Gregory Fuller, Director of Choral Activities at Southern Miss. Having the composer here with us allows audiences not only to hear his music in a great environment, but also meet the composer.
Traveling for two weeks, the 46-member choir will perform a varied program, featuring selections from K繭rvitss Canticle of the Sun and Sky Songs, based on Emily Dickinsons poetry. Also on the program is K繭rvitss St. Michael Songs which was premiered last year by the Southern Chorale; this will be the European premiere of that work.
This tour presents the students the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures, language, food, art, and music. They will collaborate with other musicians and hear the world-famous Kings Singers live in Tallinn.
